The University of Alabama Tuscaloosa Psychiatry Residency is happy to offer 4-week rotations to 4th year medical students interested in attending residency here. The rotation will give you an opportunity to participate in various teaching services you will rotate on as a resident to include inpatient, outpatient, student health and consult-liaison.
We participate in the Visiting Student Learning Opportunity (VSLO) program. Please log into VSLO and click on the “Elective Catalog” in the top right and choose “Elective Search”. You can type “Tuscaloosa” into the “Enter search criteria” box towards the top of the page. This should bring up “91-684 – TUSCALOOSA PSYCHIATRY ELECTIVE” under the Univ of Ala Heersink SOM as the sponsoring institution. You will find information about the elective and the application process. You may submit an application starting March 2, 2026, and rotation offers to selected students will be made starting April 1.
