The University of Alabama

The City of Tuscaloosa

Located in the heart of West Alabama along the Black Warrior River, Tuscaloosa is a thriving community filled with history and home to the renowned University of Alabama. The city’s vibrant young professional population and year-round cultural events are some of the many reasons why Tuscaloosa consistently ranks as one of America’s top college towns.

Tuscaloosa offers a bustling downtown with diverse options for dining, shopping, music and art. The city’s growing local food options make Tuscaloosa a haven for food enthusiasts, with acclaimed restaurants known for their southern-style cooking and upscale southern cuisine. Several craft breweries are located downtown, as is the 2.2-mile Tuscaloosa Riverwalk, a local favorite for a morning jog or walk. The Tuscaloosa Farmer’s Market offers locally grown in-season fresh fruit, vegetables and other goods every Saturday.

Moderate temperatures in the summer and winter afford outdoor adventurers opportunities for fishing and boating on Lake Tuscaloosa and hiking or mountain biking at Munny Sokol Park and its 11-mile trail system. The city is also home to more than 30 parks.

Tuscaloosa is conveniently located to nearby getaways and is less than an hour from Birmingham, three hours from Atlanta and Nashville and just a half-day drive to pristine beaches along the Alabama and Florida coasts.
